An adventure which can only be described as Authenticity at its very best. Discover some of the highest, most isolated, coldest, warmest, windiest, spots on earth. A flat whiteness, fringed by the peaks of mountains on the horizon beneath a bright blue sky can be admired by the riders. Besides, the silence that one can experience in this region is captivating. Calm and tranquility, not easily found anywhere, characterizes this landscape. As many other parts of South America, this developing area has very little to offer in terms of commodity. However, if you have an adventurous spirit you will be overwhelmed by its natural beauty. Combine this with the most indigenous country in South America and you have a true adventure.

Day 1 

Arrive to Salta 

You will be met by a MotoAmigos representative at the airport and then taken  to a beautiful colonial accommodation in the historical city which is known for it’s well preserved Spanish architecture, Andean culture and dramatic landscapes.  After settling in and having a rest, we’ll share our first dinner together.

Day 2 390 km

Salta - Yavi 

Departing Salta we’ll find ourselves riding though a forest like mountain ridge which is abundant with serious motorcycle friendly corners which never seem to end.  Then suddenly our landscape will change again to a arid multicoloured mountainous valley which includes Argentina’s most colourful town, Purmamarca, which is famous for its Seven Color Mountain.  

After having lunch at Purmamarca , we’ll saddle our bikes and ride through the famous Quebrada de Huamahuaca Canyon and enjoy its spectacular scenery. 

Huamahuaca Canyon, in Jujuy Province, was declared World Patrimony of Humanity by the United Nations Organization (UNESCO).

Day 3 300 km

Yavi - Uyuni 

After an early start to the day we’ll cross into Bolivia after completing immigrations and customs. From the border we’ll ride out towards Tupiza on a newly paved road. Our scenery all the way to Uyuni will be a combination of   stunning volcanic mountains at altitudes in excess of 4,500m to arid/rocky deserts and finally, dry white salt flats.  It will be a day to remember.

Day 4 

Uyuni 

Today we will enjoy riding the Uyuni salt flats.
Surrounded by mountains and volcano's, the dimensions of this vast plain of salt transmits a set of mixed feelings to the riders; surprise, novelty, admiration and enchantment, while our motorcycles glide effortlessly on the shiny hard salt crusts. A silent landscape of salt stretching in all directions bringing the riders to a powerful state of mind; for many an opportunity to experience their lifetime desired to truly feel …freedom!

Lunch will be at Incahuasi Island. Built on the remains of an ancient volcano of petrified limestone, the island hosts a forest of cactus and is located in the middle of the salt flat.

Day 5 240 km

Uyuni - Potosi 

Located at an altitude of 4,070 mts. Above sea level, Potosí is the capital of the department of the same name and it is one of the highest city in the world. We stay at the Hacienda Cayara, located just outside the city.
This amazing hacienda is a real life museum; with original historic pieces of art and furniture that date back to the 15th century. We always book the entire place for our group. That evening we enjoy an Asado (BBQ) which will of course, be accompanied by a good selections of wines.

Day 6 160 km 

Potosi - Sucre

Potosi city was created by miners and continues to be a miner's city today. 

This morning before our ride to the beautiful city of Sucre, we will have the opportunity to go down a mine shaft and see how the local miners work, without adequate lighting or equipment, no gloves, little air, and under extreme conditions.
If you don't suffer claustrophobia or asthma, and dare to, this will be an unforgettable experience. Once you are inside, the miners will come to visit and chat with the group, something they appreciate as it is the only thing that will distract them from their exhausting routine for a few minutes. 

After lunch we'll start our trip to our final destination for the day, Sucre, the Capital of Bolivia (sealed road). Sucre is a beautiful colonial city and is well-known for its lovely churches. Founded in 1540 Sucre has been declared by UNESCO as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a living museum of the splendorous lifestyle of the Spanish colonial aristocracy.

Day 7 420 km

Sucre - Tarija

From Sucre we ́ll ride for approx 8 hours before reaching the city of Tarija.
Approximately half of the 400 km is asphalt whilst the remainder in dirt /gravel. The dirt/ gravel section is in good condition and consolidated. The ride entering Tarija is absolutely stunning. Tarija is as laid back town, with its palm lined squares, sizzling Argentine barbeques and sprawling bars. 

Tarija is also surrounded by numerous vineyards which produce some of the best high-altitude wines in South America.

Day 8 220 km

Tarija - Yavi

Wow, the ride between!  Tarijia and Villazon (border town between Bolivia and Argentina) is something your will remember for a very long time!  Can’t describe it in words and it’s something you need to experience for yourself.  

In the mid-afternoon we’ll cross the border into Argentina and stay in same lodge and lovely village called Yavi.

Day 9 205 km

Yavi - Salinas Grandes - Purmamarca

We leave Yavi early and ride 100km south until we reach a gravel/dirt road which will branch off and take us to Salinas Grande Flats. For the next 110km your enjoy the sheer remoteness and rugged beauty of this part of the world.  

After lunch we’ll take an amazing ride down to Purmanarca, following the National Route 52 which takes usthrough the well-known ̈Cuesta de Lipan ̈. combined with the infinity of the curves of the ̈Cuesta de Lipán”, this landscape is one of the most beautiful natural sceneries in the Argentine Northwest.

Day 10 155 km 

Purmamarca - Salta 

After spending a lazy morning wandering the beautiful village of Purmamarca and admiring its famous Seven Colour Mountain, we make our way to our final destination, Salta.

After a relaxing morning in the beautiful colonial city of Salta, we'll get you and all your new memories to the airport so you can be on your way home or onwards to your next adventure.
